Comparison of Indicated Tender Prices

The tendering programme which was established for the multi-contract approach for the Modified Initial System is very tight. Nonetheless, tender documents are being issued over an extended period of time from April 1975 to January 1976. There are a total of 25 civil and 10 electrical and mechanical contracts though some of them may well be let in groups. The first four contracts, which are referred to in this memorandum, and for which tenders have been received, relate to tunnels and stations between Diamond Hill and Boundary Street and tunnels between Choi Hung Station and Kwun Tong Road.

A tender for a small part of the Kowloon Bay Depot

has also been received. The prices quoted for this are very attractive, but are not considered by the Provisional Authority to be representative. Other tender documents which have been issued are for stations

at Chci Hung, Diamond Hill, Wong Tai Sin and Kowloon Tong,

as well as the cut and cover tunnel from Choi Hung to Diamond Hill,

Tender documents for the electrical and mechanical ...contracts are in the process of issue, to be returned in January.

The tenders for the other civil engineering contracts will not be received until December 1975 to April 1976. They comprise, in addition to further works at Kowloon Bay Depot, stations and tunnels from Boundary Street to Chater/Pedder on the Island, including the immersed tube, and the overhead section of the Railway beyond Kowloon Bay Depot.
