of rice in the back of the vehicle. The seizure amounted to 1282.9 kilogrammes of raw opium and 27.884 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 26.18 kilogrammes of a salt of morphine. Three men travelling on the lorry, CHEUNG Wu-fat (6774/3275/4099), Cheng Hok-yau (6774/1331/0645) and KOON Yik-lin (1351/4135/4886), were arrested and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking. The case is pending.

21. In the early morning of 16th October 1974, officers of the Narcotics Bureau, manning an observation post, saw a lorry being loaded with sacks from a junk moored at a pier near Yim Tin Tsai, Tin Kok Road, Tai Po. A private car, apparently an escort vehicle, was parked immediately beside the lorry. When the lorry left the pier the officers gave chase and stopped it a few miles along the road. The private car was also stopped. The lorry was searched, and concealed under several chicken baskets the officers found 32 sacks containing 991.3 kilogrammes of raw opium, and 40 blocks (999) of morphine comprising 44.06 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 42.93 kilogrammes of a salt of morphine. The driver of the lorry and two Chiu Chau women in the escort car were arrested. CHAU Yiu-hon (0719/5069/3352), the lorry driver, was charged with Possession of Dan- gerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking; CHAN Ying-hing (7115/2503/0615) and Ho Cheuk-fan (0149/0587/5358) who were in the private car, were charged with Conspiracy to traffic in a Dangerous Drug. The case is pending.

22. On 23rd November 1974, at Hong Kong Airport, officers of the Preventive Service searched the baggage of two Australians, Gary William MOLLEY and Jennifer Ann CARROLL, on their arrival from Bombay. In three cigarette packets, 26 grammes of prepared opium and 138 grammes of cannabis resin were found. MOLLEY and CARROLL were arrested and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking. MOLLEY was fined HK$5,000; no evidence was offered against Carroll.
