HONG KONG DRUGS.....3
More recently, almost one million dollars' worth of Number Three heroin was seized in a raid on a flat in a large residential complex.
The recent appointment of Superintendent John Morris of Hong Kong's Narcotics Bureau to the dangerous drugs division of Interpol in Paris, is another strategic step in the fight against international drug trafficking.
The fight is long and hard, and in the words of Narcotics Commissioner Lee, one in which it is still premature to expect any "dramatic results".
The Commissioner lists worldwide co-operation among drug fighters
as a key factor in the anti-drugs drive. Other factors are education about the evils of drug taking, especially among young people, and improved systems of treatment and rehabilitation for drug addicts.
Nine people who earned a king's ransor from the misery of thousands are today behind prison bars. But the question remains, where does Hong Kong's drug trafficking go from here?
