of public assistance, education, housing etc. The BCAR

plans to start receiving the first influx of refugees in about five weeks, by which time they expect to have accommodation available. Migration and Visa Department will be informing Hong Kong of our progress in planning reception and resettlement in this country, giving them details of the meeting with the

BCAR.

4. Hong Kong have reported that some 30 of the 150 refugees who originally planned to come to this country have already been resettled elsewhere. The Home Office have indicated at

official level that they are unlikely to object to these 30 places being taken by others but prefer not to be definite about

this until it is seen whether the first admissions to this

country trigger off further applications or interest in coming to the United Kingdom amongst those Vietnamese refugees remaining in Hong Kong.
