MEETING OF THE EEC WORKING GROUP ON ASIA AT DUBLIN ON 20 JUNE
Vietnamese Refugees in Hong Kong
30. Wilford (UK) referred to the problem of 4,000 Vietnamese refugees who had been landed in Hong Kong from the Clara Maersk. A representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees would be established in Hong Kong shortly, and this should help to facilitate re-settlement. The UK was grateful to those cantries which had already agreed to accept some refugees, but would welcome further offers of help.
