So far as Britain itself is concerned, this aspect is a matter for the Home Office, and you will know that the Home Secretary has said that he is prepared to admit a number of refugees from Vietnam who have some previous connection or tie with the United Kingdom. The subject was also discussed in the House of Lords on 22 May (Lords Hansard cols. 1407 - 1409).

I hope that this information will be of use to you, both to meet your own interest and to enable you to reply to your constituent who wrote to you on 5 May. We have, incidentally, no record of your having referred your constituent's letter to us; should you wish to do so, I shall naturally see that you receive an early reply.
