HONG KONG : VIETNAMESE REFUGEES

The Minister of State has seen the attached papers and

commented:

"I agree with the action proposed and hope the Secretary of State will be prepared to act on this without delay. The matter is urgent.

I feel strongly that some of the ODM's allocation of £250,000 should be used for the Hong Kong refugees and some for Vietnamese refugees coming to the United

Kingdom.

It seems to me that we could also approach other European countries to help with the Hong Kong problem, e.g. the Federal Republic of Germany, the Netherlands, and Norway.
