GENERAL INFORMATION

He

The Prisoner was born in his native place Chiu Chau, China. came to Hong Kong by illegal means sometime in March 1963 with his cousin Fong Ping Kuen.

Apart from a common law wife, Hui Tsui Lan and a cousin he had neither next of kin nor relative in Hong Kong. According to his own allegation his father died in China some time in 1945 while his mother in 1949. He had 5 elder sisters and one elder brother all living in China. He kept regular correspondence with them and used to remit some money to them at times before he cohabited with Madam Hui Tsui Lan.

The Prisoner claimed to have only 4 years' education in China. He dropped schooling because of poverty. Upon arrival he had tried his hands on different kinds of jobs, such as cooked food stall worker, metal worker, textile worker, leather bag worker, decoration worker and hawker etc. Before he was arrested he was selling coconut juice with his common law wife earning around $30-$40 a day. He was said to have no undesirable habit. He sometimes played mahjong games.

The Prisoner further revealed that he suffered from tuberculosis since 1972 and had been under medical treatment at Kowloon Hospital and private clinic for about a year and said to be still not yet fully recovered but he does not want to receive medical treatment any more. He denied to have any connection with triad societies though he knew some of his friends were triad members.

Father died sometime in 1945 in China.

Mother: died sometime in 1949 in China.

5 elder sisters and 1 elder brother all living in China. Common Law Wife: HUI Tsui Lan, 30, a sewing worker before,

now unemployed.

HOME ENVIRONMENT

The Prisoner and his common law wife occupy an unit flat at No. 437, Block 3, Tsz Wan Shan Estate, 4/F., with telephone No. 3-269457, paying a monthly rental of $31. He lived there for about 2 years before the arrest. It was orderly kept with simple furniture. As he was not legally married with Hui Tsui Lan she is still an unregistered resident in the said flat.
