She suspected that this was because he had inferiority feelings about the permanent white pigments on his skin which were resulted by scratch in childhood. The Prisoner used to wear long-sleeve and high-collar clothes to cover up these spots, and the wearing of long hair was also said to be attributed to this. The sister felt that the Prisoner had no obvious undesirable habits and the parents were neither permissive nor authoritarian with him. He had been a naive person when he first came to work but after he had left for a period and returned, his attitude was said to have changed. He talked of going to parties, which this friend had advised against because these were frequently places for breeding troubles., He was also advised to keep good company. However, after he had left the second time, they had seldom seen each other.
