1. On 19 November 1974, I together with three others namely; MA Sung-lee,

KWOK Kee-cheung, FONG Chong-ming @ FONG Tung @ FONG Muk-tung was convicted in the Supreme Court of Hong Kong, upon a verdict of a Jury of six persons, of the offence of murdering LAM Po alias LAM Sun-shui, and was for that offence sentenced to suffer death in the manner authorized by law.
That on 8 April, 1974, the appeal of your humble petitioner was dismissed and he is now a condemned prisoner awaiting to be executed for the offence of murder.
That your humble petitioner is seeking mercy from Your Excellency the Governor to save him from this punishment.
That your humble petitioner was born on 15 November 1945 and is now aged 30. He has lived in this Colony since 1963 having come to Hong Kong as an illegal immigrant from the Wai Lo District, Chiu Chow, Kwongtung Province. His education was terminated at the age of thirteen having reached primary four leval as a result of which he is semi-illiterate. Your Petitioner was born after the death of his father and his mother died when he was only seven years old.
After leaving school at the age of thirteen your humble petitioner worked as a farmer in China for four years before coming to Hong Kong.
That your humble petitioner strove to earn an honest living, and since 1963 has worked as a general worker, weaving worker, a metal worker, a plastic factory worker, leather strap worker and decoration worker right up to the date of his arrest. Whenever he changed his employment it was in order to better himself and to improve his standard of living and to assist his relatives (namely his elder brother and his nephews) in Wai Lo to whom he remitted approximately $200.- each month whenever his financial circumstances allowed.
6. That your humble petitioner regards himself as being married to HUI Shiu-lan with whom he has been cohabiting as his de faeto wife since 23 December 1973 and he has continued so to cohabit with her until the date of his arrest in respect of the offence for which he now stands condemned.

That although your humble petitioner has one previous conviction namely handling stolen property for which offence he was in 1971 bound over in the sum of $1,000.- for a period of eighteen months, but has otherwise never been charged with any criminal offence.
The incident which led to the charge and conviction for murder of your humble petitioner was a fight involving several groups of people who were disputing between the deceased (LAM Po) and another man concerning hawking rights and the parties to the dispute were known to your petitioner.
Your petitioner realized fully the seriousness of the crime of murder and
