I did not chop to wound."

No.6 said "As he put up resistance at that time I seeing this

and was holding a knife I walked up and chopped hin several times. I

did not intend to chop hir purposely.'

The guard was hit with the blunt edge of a knife on the back

of the neck and kicked on the chest.

A female was taken hostage.

No.1 when charged with the kidnapping said "I did take part in

holding the girl but I released her later. I had no intention of injuring

I have drawn Your Excellency's attention at length to the criminal

activities of the above seven ren to support my view that they constitute

a ruthless band of robbers and thugs. The evidence available fron

incidents on the 14th August, 1973 and the other cases shows their utter

disregard for the welfare, or even the life of anyone who opposes then.

Indeed, they appear to consider that their retaliation to anyone who has

the tenerity to oppose then is acting in self defence. None of the girls

kidnapped was injured and some of the seven have said it was not their

intention to harm their hostages. Whether this was so or not

it is impossible to say, but I shudder to think of what those hostages

might have been put through had the culprits been surrounded while the
