time, other details of his work behaviour were not remembered.

Mr. TSUI Tung-sang (Senior worker, 23, for whom the Prisoner said he had last worked before he became unemployed in mid-1972, and who also lived in the same Estate)

The Prisoner was introduced by a common friend, who was also a condemned prisoner in this case, to work with him in L-steel bar construction work, but as they had worked to- gether for only about two months in 1972 and, although they lived in the same estate, they lived in different blocks, he had little knowledge of the Prisoner's character except that he seemed to be a carefree person who did not mind what he was doing. He also seemed to have a great appetite and eat more than anyone of them did.

Mr. LEUNG Kau (Friend of Prisoner, also a neighbour, a

playmate and a coworker once, 24, lives at Room 413, Block 7, Valley Road Estate, and has been a street sweeper with the Urban Services Department since 1968)

The Prisoner and he had been neighbours for almost ten years, and they together with some others who were fond of football had formed a football team called "Friends of the Mountain Green" five years ago, and they used to play football together at the playgrounds of Valley Road Estate, So Uk Estate and Matheson Stadium. But about a couple of years ago, the Prisoner had left them to join another group of friends. Since then, they had had little contact with each other.

The Prisoner was said to be glib though he tended to be quiet by disposition. He was fond of reading Chinese kung- fu stories.

Block 7, Valley Road Estate, he is a labourer at present at the Crown Land and Surveys Office)

The Prisoner had gone to his house to stay four years ago when he had quarrelled with his Own family, and it was said that during this period he had shown his best, for he was persuaded to lead a regular life with them. He went daily with him to work and there could be no late nights because they had to wake up early the next morning for work. Prior to that the Prisoner was said to have been leading quite an irregular life, associating with bad companies and loitering in the playground. But afterwards he had left their home, then it was not clear where and how he lived. He was considered a reticent person who smoked much and gambled occasionally.

Mr. Diamond Leung (Friend, 23, a foreman at the Bowrington and

Partners Designers and Decorators)

He knew the Prisoner about five months before his arrest, and was acquainted with the rest of the Condemned prisoners in this case. His workman, Mr. Chan Hung was also among the
