6. Mrs. WOO, aged 40 (Former employer of the Prisoner,

proprietor of the Siu Chi Decorator

and Furniture Co. at No. 1300, Canton Rd. G/F., Kowloon)

The Prisoner had worked for her as a skilled painter for about two years until March 1973 when he got married. He was not an outstanding worker, but honest and reliable. He had no relation problem with other colleagues and he was fairly good in general conduct. He resigned from the post as he intended to work as a sub-contractor for himself in order to get a better income.

7.

Mr. LEUNG Kin-yip, aged 23 (Friend of the Prisoner, residing

at No. 362A Portland Street, 2/F., Kowloon)

He knew the Prisoner as they were both workers in the same field of interior decoration. He disclosed that they and some other friends often went to play bowling, but he was surprised to learn their present offence.

8.

A neighbour of the Prisoner (A 40-year-old lady tenant of

No. 102, Block 15,. G/F., Valley Road Estate)

She did not consider the Prisoner a troublesome

neighbour, and she said that the Prisoner was rather polite to other residents there. However, she was not certain of his conduct in the nearby playground and elsewhere.

9.

A neighbour of the Prisoner (A 17-year-old student, Mr. LAW,

residing at a cubicle on 6/F., Block 15, Valley Road Estate)

He pointed out that this Prisoner and his two brothers (who were also condemned prisoners in this case) liked to race their motor-cycles in the vicinity in mid-nights giving other residents: much nuisance. Besides, they also liked to disturb others while playing ball-games at their nearby playground.

INTERVIEW WITH THE PRISONER

The Prisoner was interviewed at the Stanley Prison on 16th December 1974. He regretted that he had been too greedy before, but he also blamed his elder brother, Kam-wah, to have involved him into this serious trouble. He defensively claimed that he had only played a minor role in this offence and he asked for mercy as his wife and baby daughter would need his support and care.
