A neighbour of the Prisoner (A 17-year-old student,

Mr. LAW, residing at a cubicle on 6/F., Block 15, Valley Road Estate)

He pointed out that this Prisoner and his two brothers (who were also condemned Prisoners in this case) liked to race their motor cycles in the vicinity in mid-nights giving other residents much nuisance. Besides, they also liked to disturb others while playing ball-games at their nearby playground.

INTERVIEW WITH THE PRISONER

The Prisoner was interviewed at the Stanley Prison on 16th December 1974. He frankly said that he had committed the robbery because he had been under-employed and he wanted to get money for pleasure-seeking activities. He blamed no one but himself for his present predicament, and he begged for

money.

SUMMARY

The Prisoner was an immature young man with little education. His mother had been inadequate in supervising and disciplining him properly. Under influence of his elder brother MAN Kam-wah, he had adopted such a carefree pattern of life that he was uninterested in any gainful employment but spent his time in pleasure-seeking only, which had eventually led him to his present predicament. It is a pity that he is at a vulnerable age and under the leadership of the elder brother who had to maintain an expensive hobby of going to night-clubs, bowling and riding cycle. It needs a miracle to extricate himself from the luxurious living he and his other elder brother had pursued.
