The Prisoner spent his childhood in Chai Wan area when the family was living at a wooden hut in Hing Wah Resettlement Area. Ten years ago, the whole family was offered two adjacent low cost housing cubicles, No. 121 and 123, Block 15, Valley Road Estate in Kowloon. The cubicle No. 123 was given to his elder brother, Kam-tong, after his marriage. The Prisoner and his mother remained living at theoother cubicle No. 121, paying a monthly rental of $57. It is a small cubicle only but sufficient for him and his mother.

Sometimes, he went to live with his elder brother, Kam-wah, at their wooden hut at Hing Wah Resettlement Area too.

ASSOCIATES

Apart from his own relatives, the Prisoner also had associated with other teenagers living in his vicinity and they used to play at their nearby playground. He also knew some friends through introduction of his elder brother, Kam-wah, and they together always sought pleasure at bowling centres, night-clubs, ball-rooms and massage parlours. However, he denied any membership of illegal organisations.

PERSONS CONTACTED RILEVANT TO THE PRISONER'S CONDUCT AND WORK

1.

CHEUNG Kau-mui (Mother of the Prisoner)

She regretted to have provided the Prisoner with insufficient education at his early years due to family poverty. The Prisoner was said to be a simple-minded young man who would be easily influenced by others and had a weak character to stand material temptations. He was also said to be rather playful and spent all his income in pleasure-seeking activities without rendering home any support at all.

2. MAN Sik-mui (Aged 31, elder sister of the Prisoner, residing

at No. 1833, Block 12, Lei Muk Shu Estate)

The Prisoner was an active youth and liked to go to night-clubs, picnicking and motor-cycling. He did not like to talk to others about his feelings and difficulties, but rather kept them by himself. She felt that the Prisoner had turned wayward only recently under adverse influence of his elder brother, Kam-wah.
