The Attorney General,

Hong Kong.

Sir,

This is only a preliminary reply to your letter of 11th. January I wish to point out the fallacy of your final paragraph.

You say it would be wrong to subject the child to the ordeal of recounting her experience in a public court. May I ask you two questions: 1. Is a case like this not usually heard in camera to avoid this harrowing

experience?

2. Are you going to let this man continue raping girls in order to save

them a harrowing experience? It sounds as if that is your only reason.

If you have a valid reason for stopping the court judging this case, I think you have a responsibility to let me know. Unless you do so, I shall hold this against you until it is cleared up.

Kay I remind you that the Government is supposed to serve the public and is not its master.

Yours faithfully,

E. Quist
