Thank you very much for your latest interesting letter of 29 January. Again I have taken the liberty of sending a copy to John Prendergast in Hong Kong.
It occurs to me to wonder if you are ever in London. If so, could I give you lunch? I am sure it would be interesting and helpful to me to hear your reminiscences of Shanghai at first-hand. Perhaps I could also bring someone from our Far Eastern Department who is responsible for relations with present day China. Unfortunately I am leaving this Department some time before Easter but if you would be here any time before then, perhaps we could meet?
