Der Jasim,

DEFENCE REVIEW: NON-NATO AND MEDITERRANEAN WITHDRAWALS AND REDUCTIONS

We have the following comments on the DP Note 201/75(C) (Revised draft):-

1.

Paragraph 8

The date "May 1976" should read "May 1975".

On the prop- osed timetable of withdrawals, we have no objection in principle, but we should like to stress that they need to be discussed and agreed with the Hong Kong Government. Furthermore, as you are no doubt aware, nothing should be said about the proposed timetable in public and no prep- aratory moves should be undertaken until the consultations with the Hong Kong Government are complete, ie until May 1975.

Paragraph 10

We are content with the statement on Mauritius on the assumption that the reference to the key dates proposed by CİNCFLEET are those which relate to the withdrawal plan for HMS Mauritius, sent to us on 14 January by Mr Abraham (for Director of Naval Plans) under reference DN Plans 34.

Yours iver,

Dimit
