Small Arms

38.

Development has begun of a new family of small arms and

ammunition to replace the 7.62mm self-loading rifle, the 9mm

sub-machine gun, and the 7.62mm general purpose machine gun.

The plan is for this family to contend in NATO trials aimed at

preparing for the selection of a small arms ammunition size on

which NATO forces may standardise as far as possible.
