ANNEX D TO
HK 10039/1A G SD DATED JANUARY 1975
1.
The costs so far provided have been broken down so as to show separately such items as equipment, works services and trooping etc. As a result, out of total Army costs in 1980/81 of £34.7 including works and air trooping, only £8M is shown as "teeth", ie, less than 25%.
2.
An alternative method of cost attribution in which all costs were attributed to units would increase teeth costs as follows:
£M
Teeth Units
8.0
Equipment
2.5
Works Services
3.0
Married Quarters and Hirings
0.5
Movements
0.3
Trooping to UK
0.7
Trooping to Nepal
0.5
Total
15.5
3.
While these figures are not exact, they do illustrate that teeth units account for over 40% of the cost of the garrison.
