Commonwealth Secretariat Seminar in Technical

Education and Industry 1976

A meeting of a Working Party on this seminar was

attended as an observer. The seminar is being

arranged in Hong Kong in the Autumn of 1976.

will be organized on a Regional basis by the

Commonwealth Secretariat. It is expected that

there will be an attendance of about 40-50 repre-

sentatives financed by the Commonwealth Secretariat.

There was some concern about the possibility of a

lack of coordination in planning and arrangements

since responsibility would have to be shared

between the Education Department in Hong Kong

and the Commonwealth Secretariat in London.

I agreed to discuss the arrangements with Mr Collins

of the Secretariat in London.

The Seminar will provide an opportunity for an

exchange of information about needs and developments

in technical education in relation with industry.

Participation by a TETOC representative would be

very valuable and I recommend support for this if

attendance be arranged as part of a travel programme

including Hong Kong.
