Dear Mr Bailey
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Lloyd Carey, and I will be handling the indents which you submit on behalf of the Hong Kong Polytechnic.
On realising the scope of what was required, particularly with the large quantities of books, I arranged an informal "get- together" between myself, Vernon wade-Brown of the Foreign Office, and Mr Roberts, of Messrs Blackwell Ltd. The meeting was most helpful, in that, by discussing the differences between your own system in relation to Blackwells, and Crown Agents own procedure, we were able to work out a system which should help all parties, and I trust you will agree.
As you will by now, no doubt have gathered, Crown Agents require a "list" type indent. Although the slips are helpful to yourselves and Blackwells they are somewhat superfluous to Crown Agents system.
For
what we do envisage is that, when typing out the slips, you also type out a list. This list need not be a "full" list. example, on indent 001, the list reads:-
Author
Title
uty
Price
Abbott, W
The dimensioning of Engineering drawings
1
£1.65
London, Blackie, 1953
By omitting the "London, Blackie, 1953" and perhaps abbreviating the title it would save you typing time. The full details could be provided on the slips, for Blackwell/Polytechnic use. would, however, request that the list be numbered 1 - 100 or whatever.
