TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO HONG KONG POLYTECHNIC

Would you please refer to my letter of 5 February and to your reply dated 18 February both concerning a waiver of the "buy British" rule for three items of equipment to be supplied under technical assistance arrangements.
2. In the enclosure to your letter you indicated that there was a British manufacturer who could supply item 1, namely Simon V.K. Ltd. I duly informed the Crown Agents, but I have now received a letter from them explaining that, although the guillotine is of British. design, it is manufactured in France due to lack of manufacturing capacity in the United Kingdom.
3. Since there would appear to be no alternative Uk manufacturer would you please let us have the necessary waiver to allow the Crown Agents to purchase from France. Where else!
