Annex B

Main Provisions of the Hong Kong Trade Unions Ordinance.

1. Unions are required to be registered by the Registrar of

Trade Unions.

2.

Registered unions must have rules which adequately provide

for a mumber of prescribed requirements.

3.

Registered unions enjoy rights, privileges and immunities

in rospect of tortious acts, conspiracy and acts done in

contemplation of a trade dispute.

Officers must be ordinarily resident in Hong Kong and be

habitually employed in a trade industry or occupation with which

the union is directly concerned (though the Registrar may exempt

from this provision).

No person may hold office in more than one trade union without

the consent of the Registrar.

No person may hold office without the consent of the

Governor-in-Council after being convicted or discharged from

prison in connection with scheduled types of offences within the

proceding five years. (The offences relate to fraud and

dishonesty).

7. The purposes for which a union may spend its funds are
