APPLICATION OF INTERNATIONAL LABOUR CONVENTIONS TO HONG KONG

1. I have not as yet seen any record of the meeting with the Secretary of State on 21 July 1975, at which the question of the application of International Labour Conventions to Hong Kong was among the subjects discussed. I assume, however, that a record has been or will be made? I should be glad to have a copy for our papers so that we can keep you informed of any developments.

2.

In this connection, the position in regard to Convention No. 14, concerning Weekly Rest Days, has still to be resolved. I believe our papers are still with Legal Advisers but, before I pursue the matter, I should be glad to know whether you have heard anything further. The ball is still with the Government of Hong Kong in regard to Conventions Nos. 82 and 95 unless, again, HKIOD has received a further communication.
