APPLICATION OF INTERNATIONAL LABOUR CONVENTIONS TO HONG KONG PROTECTION OF WAGES CONVENTION 1949 (No 95)

I have the honour to inform you that a declaration stating that the Protection of Wages Convention 1949 (No 95) is applied to Hong Kong with certain modifications was registered by the Director- General of the ILO on 3 October, 1975. The modifications are as follows:

Article 4, paragraph 2(b)

There is no statutory requirement that the competent authority must ensure that the value attributed to allowances in kind is fair and reasonable;

There is no statutory provision which specifically prohibits deductions from wages as a means of obtaining or retaining employments;
