The Yugoslav Communist Party is hosting a round table conference on relations between Europe and the developing world, to which it has invited all the communist and social

democratic parties of Europe. The Committee voted to accept the invitation, and nominated either Miss Joan Lestor or Mrs Lena Jeger to be the Labour Party's representative. It was decided to send a delegation to the Czechoslovak Ambassador to plead for political prisoners in Czechoslovakia. The Committee discussed the situation in Hong Kong and decided

to approach the TUC to discuss the establishment of a joint working party

on trade unions in Hong Kong;

to write to you asking for the

explanation of non ratification of

ILO conventions in Hong Kong;

to write to you asking when appointments

will next be made to the Executive and Legislative Councils in Hong Kong, and who the Governor is proposing to nominate. The Committee will press you to ask the Governor to broaden the base of both the Executive and the Legislative

Councils.

The Committee decided to ask the Prime Minister to receive a delegation on arms spending and
