and employment of paid officials by unions, than the letter
of the law indicates. This does seem to suggest that a
further simplification of trade union legislation is desirable
and I have asked my Labour Adviser to take up the matter with
the Labour Commissioner in Hong Kong as a matter of priority.
And finally, may I remind you that the Governor expects
to be in London in November and that his offer to speak to
members of the Party about Hong Kong affairs remains open?
I am sure it would be in everyone's interests if this offer
could be taken up and I would be willing to bring him along
myself to any meeting of this kind which can be arranged.
