usual for the reasons described in the various briefs. It would, nonetheless, be right for Sir Michael to emphasise in Hong Kong
that the efforts of officials on both sides have resulted in a
much more informed attitude to the Colony in Parliament. The last session went well for Hong Kong, despite the embarrassments arising from the evidence of corruption which received much publicity at the time of the Godber case (see Brief no. 6). We hope to build
on this in the future.
