We have not previously planned to build DS staff accommodation in Hong Kong because the price of land would make a far more expensive means of providing housing than renting. land were not included, building might be economic. flats now appear to be coming out at below $30,000 each. non-representational accommodation, but if these prices continued to be available, a small block of flats for DS staff could be an economic proposition. Before asking the PSA for a feasibility study it will be necessary to establish whether the site could be made available.
OFFICES
8. The Trade Commission moved into new accommodation on the 9th floor of the Garmon House building, at the beginning of June this year. The offices are leased by the PSA. Part of the 9th floor will be sub-let.
9. The British Diplomatic Service Mails Office occupies office space in the Ministry of Defence complex at Kai Tak airport.
10. The British Civil Aviation Representative (Far East) has an office in Lee Gardens adjacent to the PSA Regional Offices.
The PSA offices are being rehoused towards the end of 1975 at Caroline Court, a nearby office block, and the Representative will then be accommodated within the PSA set up.
11. The Regional Information Office at Ridley House is self- administering and responsible to IRD in London.
12. The Political Adviser's office is provided by and is the sole responsibility of the Hong Kong Government.
