Select Committee on Scottish Affairs
The House of Lords has recently established a Select Committee
Sport and Leisure.
4. There are others such as the Select Committee on Procedure
(which rarely requires evidence from officials); that on Statutory
Instruments (guidance on which is given in the "Handbook on
Statutory Instrument Procedure") and those on Privilege, Services,
etc. This note is not intended necessarily to apply to those
Committees. Nor does it deal with the Committees which consider
Private Bills.

Of the Committees listed in para 3, the first four are appointed
every session. The last three the specialist Committees -
are
expected to continue for the remainder of the present Parliament
(subject in the case of Scottish Affairs to any reconsideration made
necessary by constitutional developments). The specialist Committees
each normally set up 2 - 4 sub-committees,
4 aub-committees, as does the Select
Committee on Nationalised Industries.
6. The main change from the previous structure of House of
Commons Committees is the introduction of the Expenditure Committee,
replacing, and expanding the soope of, the Estimate Committee.
