Many thanks for your letter of the 14th February explaining why you have felt obliged to advise Princess Alexandra not to come to our dress show. I of course entirely understand, and please do not feel that you have anything to apologise for. I realised there might be objections, and it was for this reason that I copied my letter to Andrew Stuart, as obviously the last thing we wanted to do was to involve HRH in controversy. In any case on essentially fence-mending mission risking controversy would be out of place.
