You may remember that when the Governor of Hong Kong was last here I asked whether some of the Labour MPs with an interest in Hong Kong would like to meet him for an informal chat in my office. Because of the recess at the time, this proved impossible.

The Governor will be here again from 8-11 April, and would be very happy to reinstate this arrangement if some of the members of the Labour Party Foreign Affairs Group would be interested. For procedural reasons I think that this meeting would have to take place in my office under my chairmanship. A time which fits both my time-table and the Governor's would be 4.00 p.m. on Wednesday 9 April. Perhaps you could let me know if you think that this would be useful. I fear we should have to restrict it to 10 or 12 people, because of the size of my office.

Yours ever,
