I will be in London from the afternoon of Wednesday 7th January until about noon on Friday 9th when I leave for Heathrow and Hong Kong.

I enclose copies of letters to four people who I would like to see, which are self-explanatory.

I also want arrangements made for me to see the K PUS (who has asked me to call on him again before I leave) and also Hugh Cortazzi.

4. Could I ask you to fix all this up and let me know the outcome at my home at Beoch, Ayrshire. By all means commit me to either accepting meals or giving them as you think fit. In all cases arrange them for the Athenaeum. I will be very grateful if you could make these arrange- ments as urgently as possible so that if there are any gaps I could fill them in with personal engagements.
