Dear Demy?,
VISIT OF URBAN COUNCILLORS TO UNITED KINGDOM
1.
When we saw the report on page 9 of the Star newspaper of 22 January, we asked Lord Goronwy-Roberts, if there was any truth in the report that he had invited Elsie Elliott and others to send a mission to London. The answer is that the Minister knows nothing of this proposed mission. The most that he said to the Urban Council was that he would be delighted to see any of them who happened to be over here. There would obviously be no point, and some damage, in issuing any sort of correction but you may wish to know the real state of affairs.
2. If you see any sign that Mrs Elliott, or anyone else, is in fact building on the Minister's general expression of goodwill to mount a mission of the kind described, it would of course be helpful if we had advance notice of their intention.
