Mr. A. C. Galsworthy,
Private Secretary to
Lord Goronwy-Roberts,
Parliamentary Under-Secretary for
Foreign & Commonwealth Affairs,
Foreign Office,
Colma
London SW1,
England
Dear Mr. Galsworthy,
(16
You probably know that several Urban Councillors, including Mrs. Elliott and myself, will be visiting London shortly to study the operations of the Greater London Council.
You will note from the attached cutting from yester- day's press that Mrs. Elliott has other things in mind and, according to this report, will be presenting certain views from "The Movement for Representation in Government" to Lord Goronwy- Roberts. The leading force behind this largely-expatriate movement is a Mr. Maurice Tracy who is known, I believe, in Labour Party circles.
It is not clear whether the projected meeting is for : Mrs. Elliott alone, or for the group of Councillors. If it is outside the Council programme I would like it to be known that I shall also be in London from 10th April, that I have views on this subject which may not be in accord with Mrs. Elliott's, and that I would appreciate equal time to discuss these with the Under-Secretary of State or other officials.
I can be contacted c/o my daughter, Miss Judith MacKenzie, at the following address :-
With regards,
No. 8 Sedley Court, 48, Sydenham Hill, London SE26.
Enc.
Yours sincerely,
John MacKenzie
