You said you would write to me further about this when the idea had been developed, but I have not

heard from you. I have therefore asked Jan Price, the Commissioner of Labour, to pursue this in correspondence with Mr. Foggon. I am not clear what sort of information is alleged to be lacking in the UK, or how Dr. McCarthy would pursue his enquiries, but from the description in your letter I should be surprised if there were any insuperable difficulty.

Foggon about what simplifications he thinks could usefully be made. Naturally we are all in favour of simplifying legislation if possible, and would welcome advice.

Paragraphs 5 and 6 of your letter both suggested there is something inadequate in the workings of the Labour Advisory Board, and as proof of this you refer to public reactions to the Labour Relations Bill passed
