STATE VISITS AND OUTGOING ROYAL VISITS 1974 AND BEYOND

1.

The Royal Visits Committee, at which the Permanent Under- Secretary is the FCO Representative, is expected to hold its Sring meeting very early in June 1974. Its terms of reference are "To co-ordinate proposals for Royal Visits overseas and visits to the United Kingdom by Foreign and Commonwealth Heads of State and Heads of Government".

As a preliminary, within the FCO, the Permanent Under- Secretary will hold a meeting of Deputy Under-Secretaries on Thursday 30 May 1974 at 3.30pm. I attach a schedule showing visits arranged or proposed so far which will be discussed at the PUS's meeting. Would Departments please let me know by Thursday 23 May 1974 whether they wish to recommend any corrections, additions or deletions to the schedule, which will be circulated in final form before the PUS's meeting. Would Departments also please brief their superintending Under Secretaries for the PUS's meeting.
