STATE VISITS AND OUTGOING ROYAL VISITS 1974 AND BEYOND: PUS'S MEETING ON 21 OCTOBER

Referring to Mr Collins's circular TXR 12/1 of
22/10
2 October, I noted in my submission of 9 October that the Queen's visit to Hong Kong was correctly described as "in hand", but that the Palace and the Governor had agreed to delay an announcement as long as possible in case any unexpected developments in Hong Kong or China made the visit inadvisable.

You will have seen from the recent exchange of telegrams with Hong Kong and Peking that it has now been agreed that the
visit will be announced by the Palace on 22 October. The dates of the visit are 4-7 May and not, as detailed in Mr Collins's circular, 3-7 May.
