I therefore respectfully request that this complaint be pursued, through the appropriate Foreign Office channels, with the Hong Kong Government at the earliest opportunity in order that a thorough investigation may be carried out before some other innocent unfortunate falls foul of such exotic, bureaucratic insanity. For my own part, I do not think it extravagant to expect a letter of apology from the Hong Kong Government, restitution of my outgoing fare, and repayment of all incidental expenses. It is my intention to return to Hong Kong.
