Paras. 121-123 Medical rehabilitation of the
physically disabled
(i) This chapter deals with medical rehabilitation
of the physically disabled.
(ii) One representation is that rehabilitation is the most disappointing aspect of the report, there being no overall planning on future needs, no attempt at a rehabilitation policy and no sign of cooperation with other relevant departments.

Other Matters
Representations have included reference to a number of matters not mentioned in the report:
Annual Review
(i) The annual review of progress in medical development is called for. One organisation is critical of the fact that no views were sought from the two major medical associations in Hong Kong. This organisation states that although advice was offered it was turned down.
Acupuncture
(i) A recommendation is made that a special unit be established by Government in conjunction with the University of Hong Kong to study the use of acupuncture in western medicine and to set up standards for the practice of acupuncture.
Courtesy
Criticism is made of courtesy and of the investigation of complaints. Continuing education courses is seen as possibly improving matters.
Para-medical staff

A number of representations draws attention to the lack of reference to para-medical staff, their training and the enactment of legislation to govern practices and establish standards throughout the Colony. One comment "is that the Chinese University should have facilities to train 50 pharmacists a year.
