Note. For medical and surgical beds the ratio is based on a mixture of acute and non-acute beds. The ratios for general non-acute beds only might in- crease from 13 and 9 respectively to 30. Similarly, a ratio of 1 to 30 would be suitable for any day-bed provision.

59. For clinics the planning ratio is taken as the present 480 doctor sessions per year.

60. Future needs for the Medical and Health Department can then be calculated, using the planning ratios and the forecast needs for Government hospital beds and clinic doctor sessions, as follows:
