A large quantity of equipment and chemicals, together with heroin and morphine,

Importation

23. On 9th January, 1974, a Japanese male Yuichi TANIOKA arrived at Kai Tak Airport from Bangkok. He was searched by officers of the Preventive Service and 2.5 grammes of cannabis was found in his knapsack. TANIOKA was arrested and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs. He was convicted and fined HK$500.00.

Liu was

24. On 14th January, 1974, officers of the Preventive Service searched the m.v. 'Tai Lung Shan' which had arrived in Hong Kong from Bangkok. In the matress of a bunk belonging to a sailor, Liu Kun-shing (1675/6034/6134) a total of 717 grammes of prepared opium was found. arrested and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking. He was convicted and sentenced to 9 months imprisonment.

25. On 4th February, 1974, officers of the Preventive Service searched the Yugoslavian vessel s.s. 'Goranka' which had arrived in Hong Kong from Bombay. Three quantities of cannabis weighing a total of 198 grammes were found in various hiding places on board the vessel. Enquiries failed to establish ownership of the drugs and no arrest was made.

26. On 18th February, 1974, officers of the Preventive Service searched the m.v. 'Mal Bulakul' which had arrived in Hong Kong from Bangkok. From underneath a wash basin in the crew's quarters a plastic packet containing 59.5 grammes of prepared opium was found. Enquiries failed to establish ownership of the drugs and no arrest was made.
