Dear Norman

Thank you for your letter of 8 May confirming your telegram of 7 May.

By the time you receive this letter you will no doubt have received our telegram of response, indicating that the dates which you propose for a meeting in Washington, viz for 2 days, arriving on 1st July and leaving on 4th July, would suit me. I shall shortly be considering whether to bring someone along with me, particularly since 1 ould like the agenda to include a full briefing on trafficking from the Far dast into Europe, with particular relation to the United Kingdom. I agree with you that there does not seem much point in our stopping off in New York, unless we are pressed to do 30, particularly as there are fairly urgent reasons for me to be present in the United Kingdom some time during that week.

I agree that we can now send a copy of our provisional and informal agreement to Cusack, and you will no doubt do that when you reply to the invitation.

I very much look forward to seeing you again. Perhaps we can have an informal word when you arrive here for your annual leave. It would also seem convenient for av to wait until then before making travel arrangements for going to Washington, althou if Cusack wants to make earlier arrangements to lay on provisional accommodation would see no objection.

Yours sincerely
