Kit-chun, 22 years, outside a Kowloon Cinema. After a brief conversion TANG handed a sum of money to TAM, whereupon CHENG gave TANG a paper bag. TANG then walked away, and when he was out of sight of the others he was stopped and searched by Narcotics Bureau officers and two packets of raw opium weighing 4.061 kilogrammes were found in the paper bag; TANG was arrested.

TAM, CHENG and NAM were seen to separate and meet again about two hours later in Hong Kong Island, where TAM joined the others in a private car. At this time Narcotics Bureau officers stopped the car and during a search found five packets of raw opium weighing 10.11 kilogrammes in the boot. TAM, CHENG and NAM were all arrested.

TANG was charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking. TAM, CHENG and NAM were jointly charged with Trafficking in a Dangerous Drug and Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking. The cases are still pending.

39. On 2nd December, 1973, acting on information, officers of the CID Special Crimes Squad mounted an operation near the access road to the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club in Wan Chai, Hong Kong. After a period of observation a car driven by a man, CHAN Ming (7115/2494), 52 years, was stopped and searched, and two boxes containing 40 blocks of ‘999' brand morphine were found in the boot. The total weight was 50.72 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 41.06 kilogrammes of a salt of morphine (morphine hydrochloride). CHAN was arrested and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking. He was convicted and sentenced to 7 years imprisonment.
