This is the permit for the
works area issued to the Hong Kong Quarry Co. in January 1961 when it was known as permit No. $283. The permit was subsequently split in 1968 into two permits, S7732
for the works area and $6250 for tar macadam purposes.
The permittee was informed on
29.7.69 that the land was required by Government and the permit would be cancelled in three months' time. However, upon the request of the permittee and in view of the pressing demand for bituminous mix, the permittee was informed on 5.8.70 that the working area permit could be renewed until 1.5.72 for stone crushing and tar mixing purposes.
On 13.6.72, a cancellation letter, giving three months' notice was served on the permittee, for the reason of the proposed development adjoining Lung Cheung Road which would affect this permit. The cancellation was extended to 31.12.72 giving the permittee an additional time to actually clear the land.
As the land would not be required for Lung Cheung Road development immediately, the permit was again extended up to 31.3.73.
The permittee finally appealed to
UMELCO Office on 6.3.73 and since the land would not be required before the end of 1973, clearance action was held in abeyance up till now.
(3) S6250
This permit was issued on 10.10.68 to Hong Kong Quarry Co. for tar macadam plant and open space.
The permittee was informed on 13.6.72 that the permit would be cancelled in three months' time, and the cancellation took effect from 14.9.72.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient, humble servant,
(H.S. Grewal)
for the Governor.
