A BILL

To

Constitute a Judicial Service Commission.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice

and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.

Short title and commence- ment.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Judicial

Service Commission Ordinance 1974 and shall come into

operation on a day to be appointed by the Governor by notice

in the Gazette.

Interpretation.

2. In this Ordinance, unless the context otherwise

requires

"Commission" means the Judicial Service Commission established

by this Ordinance;

"judicial office" means the office of a judge, other than

the Chief Justice, and the office of a District Judge,

magistrate, president of the Lands Tribunal and

presiding officer of the Labour Tribunal and also means

a Registrar of the Supreme Court.

3.

(1) There shall be established for the purposes

of this Ordinance a Judicial Service Commission which shall

consist of the Chief Justice, who shall be the Chairman,

the Chairman of the Commission established by the Public

Services Commission Ordinance and not more than three members

who shall be appointed by the Governor and shall hold office

during his pleasure.
