MPs' LETTERS

ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS FROM SOUTH VIETNAM INTO HONG KONG:

1. Lord Goronwy-Roberts replied on 9 July and 22 July to letters sent to Mr Ennals by Mr R A R Maclennan MP and Mr Greville Janner MP. He told each of them that he would write again when

we had received the Governor's comments.

2.

The source of both these MPs' enquiries was a circular by Mr Maurice Tracy, a Hong Kong solicitor, addressed to Mr Janner and copied to six other MPs, including Mr Maclennan. We referred

this to Hong Kong, who have now sent us their comments.

3.

I recommend that Lord Goronwy-Roberts should now write to Mr Maclennan and Mr Janner again. I submit drafts.
