We also believe that the British and Hong Kong Governments have a responsibility to make representations to the Saigon authorities to ensure that the remaining detained South Vietnamese be released immediately and be allowed to go to third countries which are willing to accept them. I am glad to inform you that the Dutch and French Governments have expressed willingness to accept some of these refugees, and that the Australian Government will be prepared to consider granting asylum to a number of them.
