ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS FROM SOUTH VIETNAM

I enclose a copy of a letter from Mr Robert McLennan MP to Mr David Ennals, together with its enclosures. These consist of a copy of a letter from Mr M P Tracy of Hastings & Company, Hong Kong, addressed to Mr Greville Janner MP, about Mr Li Kit, one of the 119 illegal immigrants.

We are thinking of recommending a simple reply to the effect that all but one of the illegal immigrants have now been returned to South Vietnam on the strength of the assurances given by the South Vietnamese Government. We shall of course make sure that a copy of the Minister's actual reply is sent to you in the usual way. But I hasten to put this present copy in the weekend bag, as we may yet hear from Mr Janner and the various other MPs listed at the end of Mr Tracy's letter to whom he has sent copies.
